Users can use the app to search for places and to gain inspiration based on a number of criteria including mood, distance from home, type of trip, or even favourite colour.

The app is available in multiple languages including English, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese and features a translator. It is being launched in Europe, Latin America and North America.

The inspiration engine works by users telling Minube what their favourite colour is, for instance, and hand-picked suggestions are then picked out by its staff.

Minube claims to have 550,000 subscribers and features user-generated content for 250,000 destinations and 850,000 images. In 2012 it received more than 30 million visits on its global sites.

The latest app features an updated sharing facility making the process of integrating with Facebook and Twitter simpler.

The Madrid-based start-up has also added a list feature to its latest Android app.

This allows user to create lists of their favourite destinations, places, and establishments, individually or together with friends, family, or other travellers.

Lists can be made public or remain private and are searchable according to certain types or reason to travel, like honeymoon or family holiday.
