Spanish hotel operator Grupo Transhotel has teamed up with content delivery network CDNetworks to grow its international presence, particularly in Asia.

The hotel firm will use CDNetworks’ Dynamic Web Acceleration technology to increase availability of its online booking system which is used daily by 50,000 travel businesses globally.

Francisco Javier Diéguez, architecture and infrastructure manager at Transhotel, said: “The Asian market is becoming very important to us, and we needed to count on a company that could support us as we set up new strategies and plans to consolidate our international activities.

“We chose CDNetworks because of its reputation of being able to get into distant and developing markets.

“Given its expertise of the Asian market and in particular China, the decision to work with them was an easy one.”

More than 90% of Grupo Transhotel’s business being carried out via the TOR System Advanced booking platform for hotel rooms and travel services, which is integrated into thousands of websites.

The partnership with CDNetworks follows rapid business growth in Asia and will ensure fast and uninterrupted access to the TOR system which handles an average of 3.4 million enquiries every day by travel agencies.

“We just could not allow our service to be hampered by speed or latency problems. We wanted to maintain our high levels of service and ensure that we didn’t put our business and that of our clients at risk,” added Diéguez.
