Direct sales outstripped by trade at Cruisingexcursions.com

Trade sales have now overtaken direct bookings at Cruisingexcusins.com after 18 months in business.

Trade sales have now overtaken direct bookings at Cruisingexcursions.com after 18 months in business.

The company has signed a partnership deal with Global Travel Group, soon after Advantage Travel Centres signed up to endorse its low-cost shore escursions.

The agreement with Global will see Cruisingexcursions.com produce a 16-page ‘shore-trip’ sampler brochure for clients, with incentives for the booking to be made through the agent, rather than direct.

Managing director Simon Purchase said: “Trade sales were slow to take off but we have persevered and we believe agents now recognise the extra service they can offer cruise clients by helping them book imaginative and great value excursions in advance.

“Plus, of course, agents can boost their income with these ancillary sales as the products are fully commissionable, useful at a time when cruise lines are reducing commission.

“September and October trade sales far exceeded direct sales but direct sales have exceeded predicted amounts nearly every month since we launched. ”

Launched with 240 European destinations in June 2011 the company now has more than 5,000 excursions at 600 ports worldwide.
