A mobile website designed specifically for the iPhone has been released by Monarch Airlines.

The initiative is designed to ease bookings for passengers flying on Monarch scheduled services from Leeds Bradford airport.

A login facility allows personal details, used in previous bookings, to be pre-populated on the booking form, saving time and keystrokes. Payment can then be made using debit card or PayPal’s mobile payment process, both of which incur no booking fee, or credit card.

The airline’s managing director Kevin George said: “We know that growing numbers of our customers want the ease of booking from their mobiles.

“We have prioritised our iPhone customer base as this has grown by 150% year on year and now makes up the vast majority of Monarch’s mobile traffic.

“Monarch Airlines has chosen to launch with a mobile website rather than develop a native app to provide existing mobile users of www.monarch.co.uk with a better and more convenient booking experience.”

Leeds Bradford commercial director Tony Hallwood said: “We are pleased Monarch Airlines has introduced this new booking facility as it greatly improves accessibility, convenience and overall travel experience for their passengers at Leeds Bradford Airport. Using the service, iPhone users can create and monitor bookings which makes planning their perfect getaway even more stress free.”
