Air France-KLM, Finnair and Air Berlin are to distribute ancillary services via agents in the UK and Ireland through a new Amadeus solution.

Amadeus Ancillary Services enables agents to sell preferred seats, meals and extra baggage.

Business travellers will be able to book airline ancillary services provided by the carriers through the Amadeus e-Travel Management (AeTM) corporate online booking tool.

Third party travel technology developers will also be able to incorporate the addition of airline ancillary services into bespoke applications using Amadeus Web Services and API developer tools.

Amadeus UK and Ireland managing director Diane Bouzebiba said: “As Amadeus research highlights, the airline ancillary market is now worth more than €18 billion and shows no signs of abating.

“Because airline ancillary services have become an important component in tailoring itineraries to the needs of travellers, it is vital for travel professionals to be able to access these services through their preferred booking environment and built on industry standards.”

Horncastle Executive Travel operations manager Barry Higgott said:  “The new Amadeus solution is better for TMCs like ours because it means we can sell flights and any ancillary services using the same workflow and within a familiar booking environment designed for travel professionals.

“This definitely speeds up the whole process and enables us to offer a faster and more streamlined service to our clients.”
