Dublin-based travel technology specialist Mobile Travel Technologies has developed a first mobile website for regional airline Flybe.

The launch reflects the carrier’s ‘Making Flying Better’ campaign which saw it ditch debit card fees and offer customers a greater level of price transparency.

The Flybe site clearly displays the full cost all the way through the booking process and is available in four languages.

Customers can select their seats and book a range of services via their mobile device. MTT said more developments are in the pipeline.

The site has been developed for use on handsets produced by all the major mobile firms and was built using MTT’s latest M2B Next Gen cross-platform technology.

Simon Lilley, the carrier’s director of marketing, said: “Flybe is delighted to have worked with MTT on this exciting new distribution channel.

“The rapid growth in mobile is probably more critical amongst air travellers than most sectors, so it is vital Flybe delivers on this promise that we made in our ‘Making flying better’ plans just three months ago.

“Reaction to our new website has been very good and we genuinely believe the quick and easy-to-use mobile site will prove just as popular.

“More mobile initiatives are in the pipeline as we seek to make doing business with Flybe as easy if you are on the move as being at home or in the office.”

Gerry Samuels, chief executive of MTT, said: “Increasingly travellers want to have access to flight booking while they are on-the-go. By putting customers’ needs at the forefront of the solution, we have ensured that Flybe’s new mobile site is really usable.”
