A summer social media search for the best in-car karaoke singer has been instigated by Europcar.

The main prize in the competition is a Fiat 500, while there will also be smaller weekly prizes.

As part of the Europcar ‘caraoke’ contest, entrants must record themselves in the car singing their favourite song from a list of 10 including the Troggs’ ‘Wild Thing’ and ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ by Toploader and then uploading the video to YouTube.

The performance which then receives the most votes will win the car.

Weekly prizes will also be given out between July 25 and August 22 including Amazon e-vouchers, Eastern Airways flights, an overnight stay plus dinner and breakfast at a Hand Picked Hotel, Garmin Sat Nav systems, Samsung Galaxy Tablets, Driving Experience packages and spa days at Stoke Park. Winners will be selected via a prize draw.

Europcar will be hosting two road shows to encourage shoppers to participate in the competition at Bluewater in Kent on July 28 and the Bullring, Birmingham on August 11.

The company’s UK group managing director Ken McCall said: “From car hire to social media strategies and campaigns our objective is to keep Europcar at the forefront of the marketplace by implementing innovative techniques that drive the business forward and change consumer expectations of car hire.

“With caraoke we aim to reach a new audience; raising awareness of Europcar’s innovative car hire services to the social media savvy population.”
