SiteMinder doubles revenue for hotels to $2 billion

A worldwide surge in online hotel bookings and an expanding property base led to a doubling in year-on-year booking revenue for hotels using SiteMinder’s international online distribution platform.

The Australian company’s distribution platform delivered hotels more than [US]$2 billion in booking revenue from online channels in the year to June 30.

The $2 billion in revenue was generated by a record 5.7 million hotel bookings company processed over the past year, equating to $361 for each booking.

Sales and marketing general manager David Williams said the doubling in revenue followed a major growth in the number of hotels around the world using SiteMinder’s distribution platform.

There was also a “significant increase” in the number of booking channels they list their rooms on, increasing online revenue opportunities.

The platform powers the SiteMinder Channel Manager and recently released Room Distribution Exchange (RDX) – an industry standard connectivity platform.

Williams said: “With consumers around the world booking more rooms online than ever before, more hotels are turning to effective technologies like SiteMinder to maximise revenue from this increasingly important market.

“Since SiteMinder’s launch in Australia in 2006, our expanding worldwide distribution network has given our hotel clients in all regions direct access to a growing number of international consumers.

“Properties of all sizes are clearly benefitting from putting their inventory in front of growing online audiences.”
