A global Twitter trending attempt is being employed by the Maldives as its first social media promotional campaign.
Twitters users will be encouraged to tweet their experiences of the destination from Thursday (July 12).
The Maldives Marketing and Public Relation Corporation aims to make the hashtag slogan #SunnySideofLife a recognisable catchphrase associated with the country.
MMPRC – @myvisitmaldives – hopes the Twitter campaign will create a strong networking system for the travel and marketing industry involved with the destination.
The campaign ties in with the Maldives’ 2012 tourism objective to attract one million visitors, up from 931,000 last year. There was a 3.3% rise in arrivals in the first quarter of the year compared to the same period in 2011.
