A new video chat service – similar to Apple’s FaceTime – is targeting travel companies.

OhHi allows customers to speak live via travel company websites in real time.

Companies already using the service include Titan Travel, Tailor-Made and AA Getaways.

OhHi is seen as an alternative to telephone or email, allowing customers to talk directly to sales staff via high-definition live video or audio chat.

The service also targets website browsers and invited them to chat online.

As proprietary service, there is no software to download for the customer and it can be installed on websites in minutes, a spokesman said.

“Once up and running, customers visiting your site will be able to talk face-to-face with your representatives. A customer transaction in live video chat can take place immediately – as if someone had walked into your shop to be greeted by a friendly agent,” he added.

The concept is similar to the Skype-based seeyourtravelagent.com launched by UK travel agent Geoff Monk as a director for agents available over the online video call service.
