A four-strong dedicated trade sales team has been created by Cruisingexcursions.com.

The team of four, all recruited in the past two months, is lead by industry veteran Chris Miller who is head of key account trade sales, having previously worked for Page & Moy, Alpharooms.com and Thomas Cook.

Reporting to Miller is sales manager Graham Chuter, who has an operations background with companies including Tui.

Sales executive Gemma Purchase has a cruising background, most recently with Royal Caribbean. The team is completed by travel trade support executive Lee Millard, who joins from outside the industry.

The team is based at the shore excursions and transfers company headquarters in Birmingham.

Managing director Simon Purchase said: “The investment in creating a dedicated trade sales team demonstrates our commitment to developing the travel trade distribution channel.

“We’re a year old now and in the beginning the trade was slow to pick up on the opportunities cruisingexcursions.com offered – both the additional revenue stream and the chance to give customers added value and an alternative to the sometimes predicable and expensive excursions offered by the cruise lines.

“Suddenly, however, the trade has woken up and we’re now working with independents, key consortia and multiples and have produced a retail brochure that can be personalised.

“Our sales are running a massive 40% above target so we’re growing rapidly.”

Agents receive up to 8% commission.
