Payment solutions firm Ingenico has extended its relationship with Avis in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

A further 10 countries within the rental company’s retail network have been signed up to its secure payment management system.

Ingenico secured a five year deal with Avis EMEA last year to provide a fully managed payment service including approximately 3,000 chip and PIN terminals, transaction management, helpdesk and hardware maintenance services.

The solution will be piloted in September, with a full introduction towards the end of the year.

Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Romania, Hungary, Poland, Greece and Malta will be added to 12 countries across Europe to have the system.

Company managing director Craig Doyle said: “Eight months after signing this deal with Avis, we have secured roll out across a further 10 major European markets.

“The success of our partnership with Avis is rooted in our cutting-edge technology, and our expert knowledge in the latest payment regulations and standards, which ensures that Avis Europe is fully compliant.

“We are confident that the Ingenico payment service will be extended across many other countries in the Avis group over the coming months.”

Avis Budget chief financial officer for the region Martyn Smith said: “Through our partnership with Ingenico, we will now be able to deliver customers an even faster rental experience whilst providing the business with a fully compliant and secure transaction management solution that takes care of all our payment needs.”
