Meta search engine Henoo.com has managed to attract 130,000 subscribers to a new weekly travel deals bulletin after four issues.

The Internet Business Group-owned site launched the weekly bulletin on 12 October and has seen numbers increase dramatically from the 20,000 initial sign-ups.

The launch of a weekly bulletin, called Handpicked, follows similar products for Travelzoo and Cheapflights, both of which have scored major successes with weekly travel deals emails.

Henoo chief executive Maz Darvish said: “These growth rates are akin to the early days of viral marketing where subscribers were far less discriminating about what they signed up for.

“To achieve these figures in a climate where people are more precious about giving out their email address is testament to the clear need in the market for regular updates on the best travel deals on the web.”

Henoo launched earlier this year and has so far managed to attract the likes of MyTravel and Virgin Holidays, Cosmos and Holiday Extras to the portfolio of travel providers using the site.

“The success of Henoo.com Handpicked has exceeded our expectations and brings forward our plans for more dynamic content, driven by parameters such as the geographic location of subscribers,” Darvish said.

“And even if the momentum on subscription subsides we can reasonably expect to continue growing the subscriber base significantly by Christmas in good time for the January rush.”
