A social media day is being run by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts on June 30 for fans of the chain on Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare.

Restaurants and lounges across the Fairmont portfolio are offering a complimentary appetiser from 3pm on the day.

Diners taking up the offer will also have the opportunity to revisit the participating outlet and receive 25% discount until August 31.

Fairmont will also share a fan-only coupon through its social sites, which users will be able print or email to their smart phone.

The luxury hotel brand’s Foursquare pages will post details about the exclusive offer via check-in specials in the days leading up to the event.

A second promotion will include a Facebook quiz to find out what kind of travellers its followers are.

Fairmont will provide suggestions on destination and hotel choices for summer and autumn that suit participants’ travel style, as well as entering them into a draw for the chance to win a seven-night stay at the hotel of their choice. Four additional fans will be awarded $150 Fairmont gift cards to use for spa, golf, dining, hotel stays and other experiences.

Guests who ‘like’ Fairmont on Facebook have access to inside information on special deals and offers and are occasionally treated to exclusive ‘Social Swag’ simply for being a fan.

Twitter fans have access to social-media-only offers as well as giveaways.

The company is currently developing a presence on sites like Google+ and Pinterest.

Marketing and communications vice president Brian Richardson said: “We highly value the fans of our brand that have gone out of their way to engage with us on our social platforms.

“As a luxury brand that places great emphasis on personalisation and guest loyalty, we want to be sure we’re rewarding our social media advocates with special incentives that offer true value and Social Media Day is just one way we’re thanking them this year.”
