wheels in the first ever Sabre Red Appy award has won the first Sabre Red Appy award and £6,500 cash for its car services, shopping and booking Red App.

TripLingo picked up the runner-up prize for its consumer mobile translation app, which travel buyers can offer to customers.

The winning app offers search, comparison and booking capability for private car services. Bookings integrate into travellers’ itineraries, simplifying the reservation process and increasing agent productivity. has tackled the fragmented car services industry and built strong partnerships with leading car service providers, bringing deals to customers that cannot be found anywhere else, according to Sabre.

TripLingo offers translations in more than 14 languages including French, German, Italian and Spanish. Agents who use the TripLingo technology will stay in front of the traveller with a co-branded app, and earn extra revenue when users buy premium content.

Winners were selected by a judging panel that included travel management company representatives, an industry technologist and Sabre executives.

The winners were named at Sabre’s global technology and marketing university and developers conference in Las Vegas.

Finalists for the Sabre Red Appys were: HipGeo,, Global Net Fares, Travel Automation and TRX.

The Red Appys reward developers who have top app ideas. Apps are developed for the Sabre Red App Centre online marketplace for connecting travel buyers with developers.

Sabre Travel Network senior vice president EMEA Harald Eisenaecher said: “All finalists in this competition offer a Red App idea that will give European agents a competitive edge.

“To drive loyalty, you need to differentiate your service and these apps let agents do that.

“Developers in Europe also have a great opportunity to target the agency industry with unique apps that deliver benefits for their travellers.”
