App developers for agents have a chance to win a trip to Las Vegas to compete for a $10,000 Sabre Travel Network prize, but they need to be quick to apply.

Travel technology group Sabre is offering 10 finalists in its first Sabre Red Appy awards a chance to attend the Sabre Developers’ Conference in Las Vegas on June 5-7.

The finalists will pitch their applications to a panel of judges and travel buyers attending the Sabre Technology and Marketing University, with the winners announced at an awards event at the close of the conference on June 7.

However, entries must be submitted by next Monday, May 7.

Sabre is seeking entrants from start-up, emerging and established app developers and will award prizes in three categories.

The winner of the Best Red App award will receive $10,000 in cash. There is a runner-up prize of $2,500 and an Environmental Impact prize which will see Sabre make a $2,500 donation to the eco-charity of the winner’s choice.

The ten finalists will receive demonstration space at the technology and marketing event.

Sabre Travel Network senior vice-president for marketing Chris Kroeger said: “We’ve had a tremendous response from developers.”

Kroeger claimed more than 200,000 travel agents globally have access to Sabre’s Red App Centre through the Sabre Red Workspace.

The company reports the three most-popular apps among agents as QBotic Queue Filter, which helps retailers manage their workflow; Airport Search and Quick Trip Quote.
