Travelzoo begins video scheme

Travel deals publisher Travelzoo has made its first foray into video content with the launch of a weekly clip to promote one of the offers on its website.


Initially the video clips will be aired on Travelzoo’s US site every Friday and be hosted by local or international celebrities.


The first was unveiled last week and presented by Jeff Gurtman from the Travel Channel in the US, featuring an offer for the Paramount Hotel in New York.


In the coming weeks the slot will develop to include information about destinations as well as featuring deals from the site.


Chairman and chief executive Ralph Bartel said: “Wee are excited to debut this entertaining and informative online video content that we hope will motivate subscribers to take advantage of outstanding travel deals.”


Last week Travelzoo revealed that its UK site has increased the number of subscribers to its weekly Top 20 bulletin to 600,000 in just 18 months.
