Cheevers to become part of fast-expanding Voyage Privee

The appointment of Matt Cheevers as product director is part of rapid expansion plans in the UK for flash sales site Voyage Privee, its UK managing director John Bevan said.

Cheevers started in the newly-created role on Monday two weeks after leaving youtravel.com after just eight months as managing director of the accommodation-only trade supplier and retailer.

The appointment reunites Bevan with Cheevers who worked together at lastminute.com. Cheevers was also previously managing director of Teletext Holidays.

Bevan said: “We have a big team already and putting someone in this role solidifies that team.

“We have had a cracking first quarter, we are on target and we have big targets for quarters two and three.

“As the year ramps up it was part of the plans we set out last year to build the team. I have worked with Matt before at Lastminute for a number of years.

“He has great experience of the industry and is a strong commercial guy. When we were at Lastminute we had a great trading environment, something he is capable of recreating here.

“The opportunity came up, he fitted the bill and he wants to be part of something fast-paced, a fast-moving environment.”

Cheevers’ departure from Youtravel came amid a second management shake-up within a year that saw the firm’s founder John Kent take back more control.
