Expedia is to use Amadeus’ fare search technologies and access global travel supplier content in a deal covering North America.

This comes as the two companies agreed a multi-year content and technology deal agreement covering the region.

It is an extension of a long-term global deal between the two companies struck seven years ago. Amadeus has been providing its services to Expedia in more than 15 countries.

Services in the North America arrangement include content distribution, Application Programming Interface (API) and web services, Amadeus Selling Platform agent desktop software, and Amadeus Master Pricer low-fare search technology.

Expedia’s senior vice president global tour and transport Greg Schulze said: “Amadeus brings a global footprint, efficient technology, and a level of scalability that is absolutely critical in today’s travel marketplace.

“Amadeus shares our commitment to providing travellers and travel suppliers with value, service and proven results. And, building on our existing global relationship with Amadeus allows us to further diversify our GDS relationships as we continue to grow around the world.”

Amadeus senior vice president of distribution Holger Taubmann added: “We are delighted to strengthen our relationship with an industry leader such as Expedia.

“This relationship has grown because both companies share an important strategic alignment, where bringing greater value through innovative services to both customers and suppliers is a shared objective.”

Amadeus North America president and chief executive Scott Gutz said: “Amadeus has built a solid and successful relationship with Expedia over the last seven years, so it is a natural next step to grow our partnership.

“In North America, we have made a strategic commitment to assure we best serve the needs of Expedia and online travel companies in the US and Canada.”
