Holiday Extras invests £1.5m in web tech

A speedier booking process and a wider range of products is being promised by Holiday Extras as part of a £1.5 million upgrade to the technology powering its websites.

The company says it is making it easier to book complex add-on travel services such as hotel transfers or currency cards; natural catastrophe cover and insurance; meet and greet parking as an upgrade; text flight and journey alerts or confirmations; and airport lounges.

Expert Felix Geisendörfer has been drafted in to work with a team of eight web developers to develop its new Application Programming Interface (API) as part of a £1.5 million investment in web technology.

Head of online partnerships James Lewis said: “We know that agents can find booking add-ons time-consuming and confusing. We are confident that our booking process is one of the fastest and easiest in the travel trade, offering the widest range of market-leading products and fantastic opportunities to maximise the value of every booking.

“With trading conditions as they stand, many savvy operators are focusing more heavily on add-ons this year.

“Some of our partners increased their ancillary sales by more than 200% in January. It makes sense – not only will selling our products increase revenue in the short term, it will help to increase customer satisfaction and repeat booking.”
