AirPlus partners with OpenRail

Credit card fees for booking business rail travel have been abolished in a deal between online travel management company Click Travel’s OpenRail booking service and business travel payment provider AirPlus International.

AirPlus is providing a payment system that fully integrates with OpenRail, meaning that corporate users can view a detailed breakdown of rail expenditure alongside other travel costs.

Users of the AirPlus lodge card, the AirPlus Company Account, will not incur credit card fees when booking rail travel on OpenRail.

Click Travel’s OpenRail software provides a booking platform that sits independently from the company’s main Travel Cloud booking tool.

OpenRail software is being made available to corporate clients who use a different travel agency.

Click Travel managing director Simon McLean said: “The tie-up means we’ll be able to offer customers un-paralleled detail on the reporting and billing side, coupled with a beautifully simple interface for payment.

“In addition, as the AirPlus system comes without fees or charges, we’re also able to deliver substantial cost savings to the end user.”

AirPlus International managing director Yael Klein said: “We are delighted to have teamed up with OpenRail, enabling our customers to avoid credit card fees when booking their train tickets.

“We hope our customers will be able to realise significant savings on their rail spend, together with getting the best out of the policy controls and management information offered by this service.”
