Cathay Pacific to suspend bookings for tech switch-over

Cathay Pacific Airways will suspend bookings this weekend as the airline switches over to a new reservations system.

Cathay Pacific Airways will suspend bookings this weekend as the airline switches over to a new reservations system.

The outage includes cathaypacific.co.uk, mobile sites and global distribution systems.

The system will go down at 10am on Saturday and it will go live again around noon on Sunday. Online check-in and self service kiosks at airports will also be unavailable throughout most of the weekend.

Agents will be able to put new reservations on request, but those bookings will not be confirmed until the system resumes service. Passengers travelling this weekend are being encouraged to arrive at the airport earlier than normal.

The airline’s new Altea reservation and inventory system is provided by Amadeus.

Cathay Pacific chief operating officer Ivan Chu said: “Preparations for this change began several years back as it is quite a massive undertaking.  We appreciate customers’ understanding and patience for these necessary measures.”

Travellers and travel agents can visit Cathay Pacific’s Facebook page (facebook.com/cathaypacificuk) and see Twitter for information and flight status information.
