Nearly 80 hotel chains have signed up to a price guarantee service introduced in February 2006 on the Amadeus platform.

The Best Available Rate programme was introduced in a move by Amadeus to shore up the competitive but still fragmented hotel sector and attempt to increase volume for its participating chains.

The hotel brands participating in the programme include Accor, Hyatt, Hilton, Ibis, Movenpick, Ramada, Sofitel, Thistle, Travelodge and Worldhotels.

Amadeus said a sample of seven of the chains in the portfolio had seen bookings increase by up to 30%.

Worldhotels’ vice president operations, Claudia Hammerstein, said: “Amadeus’ Best Available Rate programme fits well with our global policy to offer rate parity across all distribution channels.

“It enables us to demonstrate the control we have over our rates and assures Amadeus travel agents that they always sell the best deal to their customers when choosing a Worldhotels property.”
