Vueling develops Android booking app

Spanish budget carrier Vueling has developed an application for booking flights for the Google Android operating system.

Spanish budget carrier Vueling has developed an application for booking flights for the Google Android operating system.

The move follows the release of a bookable app for Apple mobile devices which has accumulated more than 600,000 downloads since last July.

The iPhone app was originally the only one in the aviation sector that enabled the purchasing of tickets without leaving the application.

“The new Vueling Android app will offer the same facility and is available in Spanish and in English,” the airline said.

The Vueling mobile channel, which integrated ticket sales through the iPhone app and the mobile portal https:m.vueling.com, was relaunched last year with full functionality and is claimed to have resulted in quadrupled mobile revenues.

The move comes as the carrier launches more flights from Cardiff and starts a Southampton to Barcelona service this summer.
