UK meta search site Directflights.com has added European rail price comparison among a series of improvements for 2012.

The site says it has also worked to improve the speed of results delivery and to offer its users more filters to hone their search for flights.

The new search filters allow users to search by air mile provider as well as by individual airlines.

Rob Stross, Directflights.com director, said: “Our focus has been on user experience and we’ve undertaken an extensive research campaign to evolve the product to match user needs. Underpinning all this activity is a faster site.

“Speed is critical and our new investment in technology allows us to display results within three to five seconds for most destinations. This, in tandem with the rail search functionality and new search filters, improve the user offering significantly.”

Directflights has integrated Rail Europe to give it its rail search capability.

The firm said it was also poised to launch a mobile app and has plans to roll out the brand to India and the US imminently.
