Teletext Holidays has revealed an enthusiastic take-up by consumers of its new Linguabot service following its launch last month.

The tool, a virtual member of staff called Jodie, has had nearly 4,000 “conversations” with users on the Teletextholidays.co.uk website.

Jodie is the first in a series of developments on the site ahead of a major expansion of services by Teletext’s in early-2007.

Teletext Holidays managing director Ray Mason said: “Since Jodie joined our team last month she has proved very popular with visitors to the site and has already assisted thousands of customers who have been looking to book a holiday – answering questions about availability, deals, destinations and also aiding visitors with site navigation.

“In addition to assisting visitors to our site, the questions posed to Jodie have also allowed us to identify where we can make enhancements to further improve the content and structure of the site.

Teletext will launch a string of new sites next year – covering up to six niche and specialist areaas of the industry – in an attempt to widen its portfolio ahead of increased competition in the travel search market.

“The aim of Jodie has always been to provide even greater levels of service and enhance the customer experience, whilst at the same time provide improved sales leads for Teletext advertisers,” Mason said.
