BA predicts 50% increase on ‘cyber Tuesday’
Today (Tuesday, Jan 3) is expected to be the busiest day of the year for visits to ba.com, with British Airways predicting a 50% increase in usage as people return to work.
BA is dubbing the day ‘cyber Tuesday’, the day when the return to the routine of work prompts mass online surfing for holiday and flight deals.
Commercial director Andrew Crawley said: “The first day back at work always leads to a spike in visits to our website, and this year with the excitement of The London 2012 Games and an extra holiday for the Queen’s jubilee, we know planning holidays is going to be at the forefront of everyone’s minds.”
The carrier is offering discounts across its network in a winter sale with flights to New York down by up to £406 to £654 in World Traveller Plus, including new rates of Air Passenger Duty.
Economy flights to Mexico City start at £595, down by £182, and World Traveller Plus seats are available from £1,020, down by £336.
Flights from London City Airport start at £67 one-way to Ibiza, down by £11; £61 one-way to Palma, down by £17; and £61 one-way to Nice, down by £11.
Heathrow to Vienna is down by £9 to £61 one-way, to Prague down by £12 to £81 and Milan down by £12 to £81 one-way.
Sale prices cover selected flights until November 30.
