More unique content and social media sharing is being made available on an upgraded Expedia.co.uk trip companion Facebook application.

It enables users to share trips and recommendations with friends and view destination advice from experts and other travellers.

The update brings together recommendations and reviews from other travellers via TripAdvisor, advice from locals via Yelp and expert content from Frommers.

The Facebook-based planning tool enables travellers to keep all details of their holiday stored in their account on the social media site.

Travellers can personalise a ‘trip guide’ of things they want to do and see on their journey and update it while they are away.

The app maintains core content from the original beta version but with a number of updates.

Expedia UK and Ireland managing director Andy Washington said: “We’re constantly investing in new innovations and technologies which inspire people to get the most out of their travels and encourage them to share their experiences with the people that matter to them most.

“Our goal is to offer greater flexibility in catering for the differing needs and interests of UK travellers.”

New features include a five-day weather forecast, current exchange rates and hotel recommendations.
