Sabre is bringing travel technology functionality developed for agencies and corporate travellers to the consumer with the latest upgrade of TripCase.

The smartphone application has been improved with elements from Sabre’s VirtuallyThere travel planning product and GetThere Mobile, its on-the-go corporate travel management tool.

Travel agency customers can contact their travel agent through TripCase which will offer a range of services including travel documents, e-ticketing, expenses reporting, booking and navigational functions.

Sabre said the move came about following extensive customer research that found travellers are increasingly mixing leisure and business travel and expect increasing levels of personalisation.

A first tranche of changes will take place in the first quarter of 2012 with further enhancements slated for the remainder of next year.

John Samuel, senior vice president of Sabre Studios and Traveler Solutions group, said: “TripCase will be the first consumer mobile and web solution that integrates with the systems and policies used by travel agencies, travel management companies, and corporations.

“It empowers agents to better serve travellers throughout their trip, providing information and tools at the right time.

“Policy reminders, baggage claim information, and thank you messages are examples of the way agencies will be able to interact with their travellers.

“Agents can also use TripCase to proactively respond to anticipated requests like a flight change from a missed connection, often before the traveller has requested it.

“Our global research of all traveller types shows travellers are demanding increasing levels of personalisation, convenience and functionality from their mobile devices.

“The data tells us that travellers increasingly mix leisure and business trips. As such, TripCase provides travellers the ability to do so by allowing attractions, business meetings, and restaurant reservations in their itineraries.”
