Holiday accommodation website HouseTrip.com has established a UK base after claiming to achieve one million unique visitors a month.

Holiday accommodation website HouseTrip.com has established a UK base after claiming to achieve one million unique visitors a month.

The company, established in January 2010, has employed 35 staff in London, in addition to a full-time customer care team who can assist clients in 14 languages.

More than 70 employees now work in three main offices located in London, Lausanne and Lisbon.

The site features 55,000 properties in more than 7,000 destinations with average prices starting at £105 a night for two-bed accommodation. It claims to have booked 400,000 nights since going live last year.

Private accommodation owners open the doors of their homes to host guests. The company says one host has made more than £670,000 in bookings since listing his properties on the site in February.

Founder and CEO Arnaud Bertrand said: “I have the UK to thank for establishing HouseTrip. When attempting to book a holiday property in Scotland during the summer of 2008, I found the process to be so complex, that I thought there must be a better way.
