Portman Travel introduces Evolvi rail booking system

Online rail booking and fulfilment service Evolvi has been introduced across Portman Travel’s 15 branch network.

Online rail booking and fulfilment service Evolvi has been introduced across Portman Travel’s 15 branch network.

The functionality will be used by the TMC for business travellers who book with the company’s branch network. Evolvi has previously been used by Portman to power self-booking systems available to its clients.

The extension to the branches includes the use of 19 local ticket printers across the network to meet the specific fulfilment needs of the TMC’s corporate clients. An implementation project involved almost 300 staff in 15 locations stretching from Aberdeen to London and across to Cardiff and Tralee in Ireland.

The TMC’s operations senior vice president John Dick said: “Evolvi’s sophisticated capabilities around management information systems, policy compliance and its ease of use, were major factors in determining our choice of system when the need for a new UK rail booking tool arose.”

This major project was managed jointly by Julie MacDonald for Portman Travel and Melanie Taylor for Evolvi Rail Systems.

MacDonald, Portman’s national operations manager, said: “This implementation programme has been complex, but throughout the project Evolvi demonstrated an in-depth understanding of the needs of our large and diverse customer base.”
