HRS adds augmented reality to iPhone app

Hotel portal HRS has introduced augmented reality to the latest version of its iPhone App

Hotel portal HRS has introduced augmented reality to the latest version of its iPhone App.

Hotels Now! allows smartphone users to search for nearby hotels via their camera with distances, room prices and reviews all displayed in-app.

HRS has also added predictive destination search, GPS-based property search and social media sharing tools.

As well as updating its app, HRS has also optimised its mobile website for touchscreen devices, bringing in larger buttons for ease of navigation.

HRS said the updates to the iPhone app and the mobile website mean it is now possible to include children in the booking.

In MyHRS customers can save their favourite hotels, use booking templates, set preferences and access their booking history.

Jon West, managing director of HRS UK and Ireland, said: “In 2009, we were the first hotel portal worldwide to have an app in the iTunes store.

“Since then, we have continually improved our mobile applications for booking hotels, customising them to our customers’ needs and technical possibilities.

“In the meantime, we have extended our presence to fourteen mobile platforms and have further developed our pioneering role in the area of mobile commerce.

“Smartphones and tablet PCs are becoming an increasingly important booking method for HRS.”
