Online travel experiences firm Viator has expanded its London-based team by recruiting a former account manager from lastminute.com.

Katherine Scott-Barrett, previously with Lonely Planet, joins as senior business manager, taking responsibility for Viator’s localisation efforts across its eight multilingual websites.

As part of this, she will manage the company’s translation supplier as well as new site development.

Portuguese-born Josefa Ribeiro de Aguiar joins Viator’s customer service team as team supervisor, taking UK-based staff numbers up to 18. She previously worked for Best Western Hotels, Jalpak and Japan Travel Bureau Europe and will manage a four-strong team handling multilingual queries from customers worldwide.

Both new recruits will report to Viator’s general manager for Europe and Asia Dan Hart.

He said: “Viator’s multilingual websites have been growing at a phenomenal rate, as have the ever-expanding rate of new products since our founding in 1995 and naturally, we have had to build a great team to help support these efforts.

“Meeting the needs of our increasingly multilingual customer base and communicating with them effectively is more key for Viator than ever, so we’re delighted to have hired two such accomplished members of staff to manage our localisation strategy and European based customer service department.”
