Content from Expedia and travel experiences specialist Viator is being integrated onto history travel website Historvius.

The upgrade allows users to locate tours and hotels near global historic attractions. Users can filter and shortlist historic sites, tours and hotels and view them all on a single interactive map.

The move comes as part of a major set of upgrades to Historvius, including the addition of Google Streetview; country, city and theme guides; and YouTube videos

Chief executive Mike Lewis said: “We wanted to ensure that the integration really added to our user experience.

“Not only can our users view which tours and hotels are near the sites they want to visit, but if they’ve already booked their hotel, they can plan an itinerary around it and book local tours, all things that help them create their perfect trip.”

Expedia online partner marketing director Ido Padani said: “We understand that everyone has different priorities and interests when they travel and the chance to experience a piece of history is where the travel dream begins for many people.

“Through this collaboration Expedia.co.uk can help travellers to plan their visit and find the right hotel to match their needs in just a couple of clicks.

“By bringing together the breadth of Expedia’s global hotel partner relationships with the depth and specialist insight provided by companies like Historvius, we can help create travel experiences shaped around people’s individual needs.”
