Social media specialist Travelshake has developed a series of Facebook applications for tourism and travel businesses.
Travelshake hosts social media content microsites for companies on its platform and is now enabling companies to incorporate that content on to their Facebook pages.
The apps include a booking link, maps with a facility to send directions to mobile devices, video and updates such as Twitter feeds and relevant promotions.
Travelshake marketing director Laughlin Rigby said the apps would further help businesses extend their website reach.
“There’s a huge amount of travel activity on Facebook and this is a great opportunity to connect to consumers. There are some businesses using Facebook to show videos and bring in Twitter feeds and some companies charge for apps. We have created an app that extends the microsite into their Facebook page and will help inspire users to book.”
Travelshake currently hosts travel and tourism businesses microsites with a map application free of charge but also has a premium service including all apps for £19 per month.
The business, which launched last year in Ireland, now has more than 1,000 travel businesses are on the social media platform.
