Fly.com soars over 5m search target

Flight comparison engine Fly.com says a new site look-and-feel helped it hit a record 5 million flight searches in July, an increase of 46 percent from the same period last year

Flight comparison engine Fly.com says a new site look-and-feel helped it hit a record 5 million flight searches in July, an increase of 46 percent from the same period last year.

The revamped look, intended to further simplify the flight comparison experience, delivers “an additional fun element”, according to Fly.com. After entering search criteria, users see an animation of aeroplane windows with the logos of leading travel companies flying by, while the site scours multiple websites before presenting the user with a range of the flight options available to them.

Fly.com insists it is the only flight search engine that displays the cheapest business class fares in addition to economy. That’s important, it says, for business travellers on diminished travel budgets tasked with booking their own travel.

“With 5 million flight searches per month, Fly.com is now one of the largest flight comparison sites in the world,” said Aaron Ritoper, general manager for Fly.com.

“Fly.com is extremely popular because our technology compares prices from more airline and travel websites than just about any other flight comparison website. One of our greatest challenges is displaying these extremely detailed and comprehensive results in a clean, easy-to-use interface that loads in seconds.

“With the new look and feel, we are confident we have done this successfully and are excited that our users will have an even more straightforward experience.”
