Cheapflights names interim CFO

Alan Martin has been named as interim chief financial officer at Cheapflights following the “unexpected and untimely” death last month of its long–serving former CFO Simon Bicket.

Alan Martin has been named as interim chief financial officer at Cheapflights following the “unexpected and untimely” death last month of its long–serving former CFO Simon Bicket.


Prior to joining Cheapflights, Martin was interim finance director for the global brands division of BBC Worldwide working with brands like Lonely Planet and Top Gear.


He has held senior finance roles for organisations including LEGO Media, Ubisoft, Walt Disney Internet Group and ITV.


The price comparison company’s chairman and CEO Hugo Burge said: “I am lucky to have worked with Simon for 11 years and have great respect for what he achieved for us and in his family life.


“His unexpected death was a huge shock for us all at Cheapflights but we celebrate his life and look to the future with fond memories and many thanks for all his contributions.


“We now bid Alan welcome aboard and believe that the legacy of the financial disciplines and controls Simon created, along with the excellent team he led, will ensure a smooth introduction for Alan into his new role.”
