GateGuru gets new app and funding

GateGuru, the airport information provider, has new funding and a shiny new Android application.

Airport information provider GateGuru has new funding and a new Android application. The company has announced it has raised $800,000 in funding from Brad Harrison, Allen Morgan, Chamath Palihapitiya, Tom Glocer, Thomas Lehrman and Matt Daimler.

In addition, the company’s new app gives travellers a free way to find food, shopping and other essentials in airports worldwide. It also syncs with TripIt and Kayak to import itineraries. The app even allows users to submit or review information on security wait times.

There are more than 40,000 people already using the app and 25,000 tips and reviews from travellers. GateGuru is hoping to further grow its user base as it works to become the ultimate guide for airports.
