Ignacio Martos leaves Opodo

After 5 years, at Opodo, Ignacio Martos has announced he will be leaving the company.

Opodo chief executive Ignacio Martos is to leave the company after five years.

As the merger of Opodo, eDreams and Go Voyages wraps up, Martos said he is handing over power of the now merged group to eDreams CEO Javier Perez-Tenessa.

In an email, Martos said: “I am very happy to have concluded the restructuring and selling plan and I will look for new ventures ahead. I will be staying on in the UK and I am currently exploring a number of options for my professional future, but I haven’t decided yet.”

The move comes after Amadeus announced it would be selling Opodo to AXA Private Equity and Permira Funds for €450 million. Amadeus began looking for a buyer for Opodo in October 2010 after it announced the company was no longer a strategic asset.
