Worldspan appoints new Ireland boss
Worldspan has moved to replace Brian Staunton, country manager for Ireland, with ex-STA Travel and JAC Travel executive Terje Tjostolvsen.
Tjostolvsen will take up the reins following Staunton’s recent move to become London-based regional manager for UK & Ireland.
Prior to joining Worldspan, Tjostolvsen was vice president of business development for Web Reservations International, based in Ireland.
He has also worked for Flight Time International.
Staunton said: “With years of management experience in traditional and Internet-based travel distribution, Terje offers strong leadership skills that will help our customers compete more effectively in today’s environment.
“He is actively involved with our agency partners on a day-to-day basis, helping them to identify opportunities for growth and take advantage of the latest technologies to reduce their operating costs.”
The move caps a busy period for Worldspan after signing up a string of new airline partnership deals in recent months.
The GDS currently powers around 60% of the global online travel sector and is currently the only provider without an affiliation to an online travel agency.
