A travel website in India launched this year by ex-Ebookers executives, Dhruv Shringi and Manish Amin, has appointed OpenJaw Technologies to power its technology.

Yatra, an online travel agent hoping to target users of the enormous Indian rail and bus systems, alongside providing flight and hotel travel products, will use the Dublin-based OpenJaw’s XHotel and XDistributor platforms.

The deal is the latest in a line of partnerships for the burgeoning Indian online travel sector.

Current estimates put the market at around $40 billion and forecasts expect growth of 25% within three years.

Yatra will use OpenJaw’s XML technology to consolidate a myriad of feeds from GDSs, airfare suppliers, hotels and the rapidly increasing low cost carrier industry.

Co-founder and chief technology officer, Amin, said: “The Indian travel market is enormous and extremely fragmented, making it difficult for Indian travellers to find and compare the best flight and hotel deals and book them online.

“Yatra now satisfies this need by bringing together all the major Indian travel suppliers under the umbrella of a single website.”
