A survey by deals publisher Travelzoo found that while 64% have not made a summer booking, 59% are planning to take a break of some kind this spring.

A further 21% of those surveyed said they planned to spend more than £900 on their getaways.

Of those planning travel this spring:

 > 46% are planning a holiday in Europe
 > 37% are planning to stay in the UK
 > 17% are planning long haul trips

Joel Brandon-Bravo, managing director of Travelzoo UK said: “It will come as no surprise to most of the travel industry that more than two thirds of people have not yet booked their main holiday this year.”

“We have already started to see some good deals for sunshine destinations and expect more tour operators to start discounting or including added value over the next couple of months to encourage bookings for the summer. Hopefully the recent warm weather will encourage consumers to start planning.”
