Facebook adds ‘Send’ button

Facebook has announced its new “send” button to compliment the already popular “like” feature.

Facebook has announced a new “send” button to complement the already popular “like” feature. The social network released the new feature last week to help groups and individuals reach more specific audiences.

This means that Facebook users can now send messages or content to the people or groups they want rather than sending out a bulk announcement by simply liking something.

According to the developers section of Facebook: “The Send Button allows your users to easily send your content to their friends. People will have the option to send your URL in an inbox message to their Facebook friends, to the group wall of any Facebook group they are a member of, and as an email to any email address.”

“While the Like Button allows users to share your content with all of their friends, the Send Button allows them to send a private message to just a few friends.”

More than 50 major sites have already launched the “send” button including Orbitz, People.com and Guilt Group.

TechCrunch contributor Jason Kincaid pointed out that the addition of a “send” button may also increase the overall use of groups on Facebook as well as encourage users to share their thoughts on things like travel.
