Travel search site Kayak has acquired Austrian’s leading travel search site checkfelix.com for an undisclosed sum.
Kayak, which has local websites in 11 countries, will continue to operate checkfelix.com as an independent brand.
Checkfelix.com founder and former majority shareholder Hannes Jagerhofer’s ACTS Communication will be retained as marketing consultant for the company.
John-Lee Saez remains in charge of the search engine’s operating business and will be based at Kayak’s European headquarters in Zurich. He has also been appointed managing director of Kayak France.
Kayak Europe managing director Christian Saller said: “Over the past few years checkfelix has emerged as one of the strongest brands in the Austrian online travel sector and we are simply delighted that this vigorous brand and the team are now a part of Kayak.”
