Top level changes have seen Travelocity chief executive Hugh Jones take over as president of Sabre Airline Solutions under the Sabre Holdings umbrella.
He is being replaced at Travelocity by Carl Sparks, current president of Gilt Groupe (Gilt.com).
Sparks is a former Expedia chief marketing officer and Hotels.com general manager and will assume the role of Travelocity president and chief executive.
Sparks will be responsible for the growth of Travelocity Global and its subsidiaries Travelocity, Travelocity Business, Travelocity Partner Network, IgoUgo, AllHotels.com, and lastminute.com in Europe and Zuji in Asia Pacific.
Jones has had a number of executive roles including chief operating officer for Sabre Travel Network and Sabre Airline Solutions, having joined from American Airlines.
He will oversee the growth of Sabre Airline Solutions, which provides technology solutions to the airline industry.
Jones has been charged with accelerating the company’s plans to be the world’s leading “software-as-a-service” business. The changes take effect from April 25.
Sabre Holdings chairman and chief executive Sam Gilliland said: “Both Hugh and Carl are exceptional leaders with proven success in today’s dynamic travel industry.
“Their knowledge of the travel industry, global insight, passion for innovation and deep understanding of what our customers want will enable both businesses to thrive and be successful in today’s competitive industry.”
