Travel trade information provider Gazetteers Plus has added a raft of new features to encourage agents to interact with the website.

Gazetteers.com now includes blogs, agent reviews, holiday offers and a daily poll.

DG&G head of product development Paul Hobden said the move is a deliberate attempt to expand the site’s product.

“It has been a very functional product where agents go to get information,” he said. “We want agents to see it as more than just for information.”

Hotel and resort reviewers are now writing their own blogs offering additional information and anecdotes not usually included in their reviews.

In just over a month of offering the service., the site has received more than 1,500 agent hotel and resort reviews.

“Agents have found it really insightful to read other agents or their customers’ opinions,” Hobden said.

The website, which includes content more than 950 brochures, is also looking to expand its airport-based information to reflect the rise of no-frills airlines’ use of more obscure regional airports and the rise of dynamic packaging.

Information about the distance and costs of a taxi to the nearest cities will be included along with duty-free details that will allow agents to choose the right flight and airport for their customers.

It will also be adding 360-degree videos of 1,000 properties as well as more information surrounding national parks and scenic routes such as South Africa’s Garden Route.
