Youtravel.com relaunches with new consumer site

Accommodation specialist youtravel.com has launched its new consumer-facing website which it hopes will establish it as a major player in the European online leisure travel market.


The supplier, which in the UK is better known as a bed bank for the travel industry, has already launched a new trade-facing brand in the UK youhotels.com


The relaunched youtravel.com consumer site has been built on new dynamic packaging technology and is taking a different approach to most online holiday sites.


Rather than choosing a flight first, youtravel.com asks customers to choose from over 40,000 hotels and then plans the flight around that. Due to the firm’s bed bank business youtravel has direct agreements with 3,000 of its featured hotels.


This underlies the company’s belief that, unlike a hotel, flying is almost never glamorous and it should not be the flight that dictates where a person stays. Youtravel.com is being headed up by former Teletext Holidays chief Matt Cheevers.


Youtravel.com is a member of the Travel Trust Association consortium that offers customers complete financial protection through a trust scheme and also has a franchise Atol agreement with the CAA.
