Traveltainment has developed an iPad application with map-based navigation and a booking engine.
The service enables consumers to enter their criteria within a ‘My Holiday Settings’ page and it presents with the best deals on a map.
They can then drill down for more details, images and ratings about the resort and local area. Videos can also be integrated. There is also a function enabling consumers to send hotel information to Facebook, Twitter or email.
Traveltainment’s senior product manager Craig Tunstall described the development as a beta version and it has yet to be tested by travel companies.
“We tried to develop something to push that device as far as we could. We studied competing apps and none use the graphics to make the experience more appealing,” he said. Companies can brand the app with their own look and feel.
Traveltainment’s online marketing company Pixell has developed an iPhone app and plans to add booking capability in the coming weeks.
Expedia.de plans to launch a version of the app with other markets to follow The service is already being used by Kuoni’s Helvetica brand. The iPhone app allows for searching based on packages as well as single holiday components.
