Aircell secures $35 million to expand reach of Gogo

Internet provider Aircell has secured $35 million in private equity funding to expand Gogo, its inflight technology. The cash infusion will be used to grow Aircell’s commercial and business aviation markets.

Internet provider Aircell has secured $35 million in private equity funding to expand Gogo, its inflight technology. The cash infusion will be used to grow Aircell’s commercial and business aviation markets. 


In 2011 Aircell plans to increase the number of Wi-Fi capable aircraft by about 1,095. Currently the company provides internet on nine of the top 11 US airlines and 6,000 business aircraft.


“2010 was the year Inflight Internet went mainstream and Aircell established its leadership in this exciting new mobile internet venue,” said Michael Small, Aircell president and chief executive.  “Since securing our exclusive spectrum licence in 2006, we’ve raised more than $500 million.”
