Destination search engine company Global Travel Market has signed a major deal with Intercontinental Hotels Group to include Asia and Australia properties on its database of products.

Australiatravelmarket.com will be the first GTM site to receive a direct feed of IHG’s accommodation in Australia across the Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza and Intercontinental brands.

GTM’s second travel portal, Asiatravelmarket.com, which is due to be launched shortly, will also be part of the IHG deal.

GTM chief executive Dave Simmons said: “We are achieving what we set out to achieve, namely to be seen by consumers as the one-stop holiday shop to Australia currently offering no less than 19,000 different Australian tourism products.

“Our destination dedicated module offering consumers direct booking opportunities, flight price comparisons as well as access to travel agents and tour operators’ itineraries and experience, has been extremely successful in a relatively short period of time.

GTM initially launched Australiatravelmarket.com in the UK, with a regional version for the emerging Chinese market unveiled in June. A German edition is due to be launched in September.

Business development director for IHG, Majse Gustavsson, said: “We are very excited about this new opportunity which capitalises on consumers’ changing booking trends.

“With Australia Travel Market live in two countries and more to follow, and with Asia Travel Market due in September, we are convinced that we have made a sound business move that will bring our properties within easy access of independent travellers.”
